Today we travel the coastline to St. Anthony to visit the home of the famous medical missionary, Sir Wilfred Grenfell, who brought modern medicine to northern Newfoundland and the remote communities of coastal Labrador. The highlight of this day is our visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site at L'Anse aux Meadows, home of Lief the Lucky and the Viking people who settled this area as early as the year 1000 A.D. Incredible icebergs usually dot the coastline at this time of year.

Bid farewell to the west coast as we take an easterly trek, to a new geological frontier. A perfect harbor provides a beautiful backdrop for an eventful morning of whale interpretation and brilliant art exhibits. This afternoon commemorates the survivors of the 9/11 Tragedy and the many acts of kindness extended when we welcomed the 'Come From Away' guests into the homes and communities surrounding Gander; the epicenter of the hit Broadway musical.

The "Road to the Isles" will take us across causeways spanning the many "Tickles and Runs" leading to Twillingate Island. This is a dedicated fishing community that exhibits great wealth and culture and features spectacular cliff sides and coastal views. We visit the lighthouse at Crow Head, the Auk Island Winery for a sample of their wares. This area is also known as Iceberg Alley.

This morning we will visit the fishing community of Salvage on the Eastport Peninsula. Here we go for a walk in the town and hopefully have a chat with some of the locals. Next we travel to Terra Nova National Park to view the vistas of Newman Sound and to visit the park’s Marine Interpretation Center. Here we will experience first-hand the variety of marine life found in the sounds and learn about this ecologically diverse area.

This morning, we travel to Bonavista, the landing place of John Cabot in 1497. Here we visit the lighthouse at Cape Bonavista, walk along the headlands of the geographical wonder that makes up The Dungeons, and explore the Ryan Premises, a National Historic Site dedicated to the explanation of the history of our cod fishing industry. This afternoon we visit Elliston, the self-proclaimed ‘Root Cellar Capital of the World’. Elliston is home to thousands of Atlantic Puffins and the “Home from the Sea” exhibit dedicated to our sealing industry. Late this afternoon we travel back to historic Trinity for a chance to walk about the town exploring the historic properties and shops.

Natural wonders abound on this morning’s boat trip to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to views Atlantic Puffins, Murres and the millions of seabirds that nest on these coastal islands. This is a favorite feeding ground for Humpback, Minke, and Fin whales where frequent and multiple sightings are a definite possibility. Visit Cape Spear National Historic Park, the most easterly point of land in North America, before heading into St. John's, the provincial capital and cultural showcase.

An historic tour of St. John’s will provide a brilliant interpretation of North America’s oldest city, and a proper orientation for your free time this afternoon. This afternoon is free to explore the many historic exhibits, walking trails and boutique shops and galleries that surround your hotel. This evening, we share our Farewell Dinner.
